Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup shortening
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp shortening

Directions:

  1. Heat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed the sugars, butter, 1/3 C shortening, vanilla, and egg in a large bowl. Stir in flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir in the candy.
  3. Drop dough by heaping teaspoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 8-10 minutes or until light brown. Cool cookies for 1 minute, then remove to wire rack to cool completely.
  4. Cover the cookie sheets with wax paper. In the microwave, heat chocolate chips and 1 T shortening for 1 minute; stir until smooth.
  5. Dip about 1/3 of each cookie into the chocolate. Place on waxed paper. Sprinkle with additional candy bar, finely chopped, if desired. Refrigerate about 3 minutes or until chocolate is set.
  6. Enjoy!
