Butterscotch Almond Bars

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup corn syrup
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cups sliced almonds

Directions:

  1. Set oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Grease a 13 x 9 baking dish.
  3. Combine flour and baking powder; set aside.
  4. Blend in sugar into melted butter.
  5. Beat in eggs and vanilla.
  6. Stir in flour mixture.
  7. Spread batter into greased prepared baking pan (don't pack down too hard).
  8. Bake for 20 minutes.
  9. Remove from oven.
  10. To prepare nutty topping: Melt butter in small saucepan.
  11. Add and mix in sugar, cornsyrup, water a salt.
  12. Bring mixture to boil; boil 4 minutes, stirring constantly.
  13. Stir in sliced almonds.
  14. Spread nutty topping evenly over baked crust.
  15. Bake 15 minutes longer.
  16. Cool.
  17. Melt chocolate; drizzle over bars.
  18. Cut into bars.
