Basic Boiled Cabbage Sabzi

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Heat oil in a saucepan on a medium flame and add mustard seeds and urad dal.
  2. When the mustard sputters, immediately add the chopped cabbage.
  3. Add salt and turmeric powder, 1/4 cup water, and cover the saucepan with a tight-fitting lid (preferably one that snugly covers the cabbage).
  4. Uncover after 10 minutes, stir the cabbages, and cover again.
  5. Repeat after 10 minutes, and if required add some more water (if the mixture appears dry and browning).
  6. After 5 minutes, the water would have evaporated.
  7. Switch off the burner, stir once more, and serve.
