all-purpose flour (i only use king arthur brand), sugar, salt, chilled butter, cut into 6 pieces (chilled hard ), lard or 3 tbsp crisco, chilled, egg, beaten lightly, apple cider vinegar (but , i ve used pear, champagne or other flavoured vinegars), ice water
