WORLD WAR II COOKIES This recipe is one of many obtained from cookie exchanges I have held for the past eighteen years. This recipe was submitted by one of my seconds moms, Clara Rodgers.
Ingredients:
3 cups regular flour
1/3 cup nonfat dry milk powder
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 cup margarine
1 cup sugar
1 cup dark corn syrup
2 tablespoons water
1 egg
1/2 cup raisins
Directions:
1. Grease and flour a jellyroll pan.
2. Stir together flour, dry milk, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg.
3. In large mixing bowl cream margarine and sugar then add corn syrup, water and egg.
4. Gradually and thoroughly beat in flour mixture then stir in raisins.
5. Pour into prepared pan and spread to edges and bake in preheated 375 oven 25 minutes.
6. Cool in pan on rack then cut into bars then store in tightly covered tin can.
