Every chinese meal should be started with wonton soup. Its not the same without it!
Ingredients:
2 lbs ground pork
1 1/2 cups thinly sliced green onion (reserve 1/2 cup)
2 tbsp garlic powder
1/3 cup soya sauce
4-5 cans condensed chicken broth
wonton wrappers
3-4 eggs beaten
salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
1. In a large skillet or frying pan, brown the ground pork making sure to break it up very well.
2. Turn down heat to around 3 and add soya sauce, garlic powder, 1 cup green onion, and salt and pepper to your taste.
3. Let simmer until everything is dry again but green onion is fairly soft. If not yet soft add a little bit of water and cover until desired firmness. Then take off heat and allow to cool.
4. Lay out wonton wrappers in preparation for filling. Scoop about 1 heaping tablespoon of filling onto each wrapper. Paint edges with beaten egg and place another wonton wrapper ontop of each and seal edges well. Do not let wonton wrappers dry out or they will break very easily. Try doing small batches at a time.
5. As soon as the wontons are ready, before they dry out, boil them immediately in the chicken broth (following directions on side of can or box).
6. Before serving sprinkle reserved green onion on top and more soya sauce to the broth if desired.
7. Enjoy!
