this will drive the frost out of the coldest winter day and warm the heart.
Ingredients:
meatball recipe
1 lb lean ground beef
1 large egg
1/2 cup seasoned bread crumbs
1 tsp minced dried onion
1 tsp worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp ground black pepper
stew recipe
4 1/2 + 1/2 cups water
2 tbsp beef bullion granules
1 large onion cut into 8 pcs
6 carrots peeled and cut into 3/4 pieces
3 medium thin skinned potatoes cut into 1 pcs
3 medium sweet potatoes (yams) cut into 1 pcs
1 cup frozen peas
1 1/2 tsp thyme
1 tsp basil
1/2 tsp ground black pepper
1/2 tsp salt
3 tbsp corn starch
1/4 cup all purpose flour
1 bay leaf
Directions:
1. mix meatball ingredients and form onto 3/4 balls but do not cook'. they will be added to stew later
2. bring 4 1/2 cups waater to a boil.
3. add carrots, bullion, bay leaf, thyme, basil, salt and pepper.
4. return to slow boil and cook covered for 10 min.
5. add onions, potatoes, sweet potatoes and add meat balls a few at a time. Return to boil and cook for 15 min or until vegetables are tender and meatballs fully cooked. stir in frozen peas
6. Mix flour and cornstarch into 1/2 cup cold water stir until smooth, add the mixtureto the boiling stewa little at a time until the desired consistency is reachedcook for 1 min and serve. additional salt and pepper to taste.
