Wild Rice With Cranberries And Caramelized Onions

Tried and true recipe that I obtained many years ao from an estate sale. We love this and I make it often, just can't get enough of this stuff. Hope you enjoy as much as we do.
Ingredients:
2 cups chicken broth
1/2 cup brown rice
1/2 cup wild rice
3 tablespoons butter
3 medium onions sliced into thin wedges
2 teaspoons brown sugar
1 cup dried cranberries
1/2 teaspoon orange zest finely grated
Directions:
1. Combine chicken broth and rice in a medium saucepan.
2. Bring to a boil over medium high heat then reduce heat to low.
3. Cover and simmer 45 minutes or until rice is tender and the liquid absorbed.
4. Meanwhile melt butter in a medium skillet over medium high heat.
5. Add onions and brown sugar then cook 6 minutes then turn heat to low.
6. Slowly cook onions stirring often for 25 minutes then stir in cranberries.
7. Cover and cook over low heat 10 minutes then fold cranberry mixture and zest into rice.
