Wheat bran, honey, potatoes. Very old recipe that looks like it has been made a lot. This looks like it makes 3 loaves but recipe does not say.
Ingredients:
2 cups potatoes, diced
1 1/2 cups potato water
3 teaspoons yeast
1 1/2 cups water, lukewarm
1 teaspoon sugar
2/3 cup oil
1 teaspoon butter flavoring
3/4 cup honey
1 tablespoon salt
1 cup wheat bran
4 cups whole wheat flour
4 cups flour
Directions:
1. Cook potatoes and keep the potato water.
2. Mash potatoes.
3. Meanwhile mix yeast, warm water, and teaspoon sugar; let proof.
4. Mix the oil, butter flavoring, honey, and salt together.
5. Add the yeast to the honey mixture.
6. Add potatoes and reserved potato water.
7. Add wheat bran.
8. Add whole wheat flour.
9. Add regular flour.
10. Knead 10 minutes; this is going to be work; I would knead in batches.
11. Let rise covered with wet towel.
12. Punch down.
13. Let rise again.
14. Punch down.
15. Shape into loaves.
16. Let rise a third time in the loaf pans.
17. Cover with wet towel.
18. No time was given; bake in 350 degree Fahrenheit oven 55 minutes.
