Ingredients:
1 tsp red pepper flakes, or to taste
2 cloves of garlic
2 tsp of oil
1 16 oz package of frozen broccoli
1 16 ox can of chic peas (garbanzo beans)
1/2 cup finely grated parmesan.
4-6 oz of dried whole wheat pasta
1/3 cup of pasta water
Directions:
1. Have pot of boiling water for pasta ready.
2. Heat oil in pan over medium heat for 3 minutes. Add red pepper flakes, stir and let simmer for 30 seconds.
3. Add garlic, stirring, until fragrant - about 30 seconds.
4. Add the package of frozen broccoli and let it sit, resist the urge to stir, for about 3 minutes.
5. Add pasta to boiling water.
6. Stir the brocolli once, and reduce heat to medium-low. Cover and cook for about 5 minutes more, until the broccoli is heated through.
7. Add the chick peas and cook for two minutes until heated through.
8. Take 1/3 cup of water from pasta and add to the chick pea mixture.
9. Drain the pasta.
10. Bring Water in chick peas to a boil and reduce by half over medium heat, about 2 minutes.
11. Toss pasta in with chick peas, add parmesan cheese and lots of fresh cracked pepper.
12. Plate and Serve!
