Whole Grain Gingerbread Cake

This is really good and relatively healthy. Serve it hot out of the oven with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream; it's also good with warm applesauce.
Ingredients:
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup unbleached flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon ginger
1/4 teaspoon clove
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup wheat germ
1 cup buttermilk or 1 cup yogurt
3/4 cup molasses
1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
1 tablespoon oil, plus
1 teaspoon oil
2 eggs
Directions:
1. Stir dry ingredients (flour through wheat germ) together in mixing bowl.
2. Add remaining ingredients and beat until smooth.
3. Pour into greased 9x9 cake pan; bake at 350 for 45-50 minutes, or until tests done.
