Wheat Germ No Knead Bread

Ingredients:

  • 2 1/2 3 cups unsifted flour divided
  • 1/2 cup wheat germ
  • 2 package active dry yeast
  • 2 tsp, salt
  • 1 1/2 cups very warm water
  • 2 tablespooons butter or margirine- softened
  • 2 tbsp molasses
  • at start can add 1/4 to 1/2 cup onion chopped or instant onion flakes
  • method can be adjusted to make in bread machine
  • preheat oven: 375
  • use 1 1/2 quart casserole greased

Directions:

  1. Combined 1 cup flour, wheat germ yeast and salt in a large bowl
  2. Add: butter water Molasses beat 2 minutes at medium speed with an electric mixer
  3. Add 1/2 cup additional Flour Beat at high speed 2 minutes
  4. Scraping down sides of bowl
  5. With a wooden spoon beat in enough Flour to make a stiff batter
  6. Cover bowl with clean towel
  7. Let rise in warm place away from drafts
  8. 45 minutes or untill double in bulk
  9. Punch dough down beat vigorously for 30 seconds with wodden spoon
  10. Place in prepared cassero;e
  11. Bake untill bread sounds hollow when tapped. remove from casserole serve warm or cool completely
  12. Given to me by a friend that was a baker. very good bread he says
