Ingredients:

  • in no particular serving things 1 can keep on hand for emergencies
  • fresh bottled water supply
  • nonfood perishables: crackers, peanut butter, sardines, bread, bagels, dry milk powder, etc.
  • remember a hand can opener too
  • pet food- esp. dry
  • working flashlights ( battery operated )
  • batteries: all kinds: d,cup, aaa,aa, lantern battery etc.
  • transistor or wind up radio so you keep informed
  • run rv generator, if you own an rv
  • check and maintain your portable home generator monthly or as required
  • have gas/fuel containers filled in their proper containers and stored away from heat sources for snow blower,generator, propane cylinders, chain saw,kerosene heater etc
  • if you own a kerosene heater make sure it is in working condition- do you have an extra wick for it
  • ( remember to keep your window open a crack when using kerosene heaters )
  • table top camp stove ( remember to keep your window open a crack ) for brief cooking only, not for heat source
  • old fashioned stove top coffee pot, ground coffee, if you want coffee
  • gas in all your vehicles
  • bags of ice for chest freezer to keep freezers cold and filled
  • water in containers placed in your refrigerator freezer so it stays cold longer in power outages
  • cell phone charged- also have car charger for cell phone
  • money from atm
  • refill any prescriptions
  • snow blower working
  • wood for your stove
  • fill bath tub with water for general cleaning, washing, flushing toilets etc
  • snow shovel and snow rake available
  • have a plan where you will stay if you need to evacuate your home
  • have important insurance, emergency numbers together for quick reference
  • use a camera to take photos of any damage or losses of your home and property
  • check on status of family, friends if possible
  • have compassion and kindness for your fellow man,rescue workers etc. because we all get so annoyed when we lose so much after our lives have been altered
