Here's a quick but delicious dip for the holidays. I used Lipton Recipe Secrets Onion Soup Mix instead of Golden Onion Soup Mix because it's what was on hand. Personally, I doubled all the ingredients because I thought the soup mix was way too salty. I also added a little worcestershire pepper. Recipe courtesy of Best Recipes of the Great Food Companies.
Ingredients:
6 slices bacon
1/2 lb mushroom, thinly sliced
2 medium garlic cloves, finely chopped
1 1/4 ounces lipton recipe secrets onion soup mix (golden)
1/8 teaspoon pepper
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
8 ounces sour cream
parsley
bread or cracker
Directions:
1. In 10 skillet, cook bacon and remove and crumble.
2. Reserve 1 1/2 tablespoons drippings.
3. Add mushrooms and garlic to reserved drippings and cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, 5 minutes or until mushrooms are tender and liquid is almost evaporated.
4. Add golden onion soup mix and pepper, then cream cheese and combine thoroughly.
5. Simmer, stirring constantly, until cream cheese is melted.
6. Stir in sour cream and bacon and heat through.
7. Garnish, if desired, with parsley and additional mushrooms and bacon.
8. Serve with bread or crackers.
