This recipe is from Auntie Mary Lawson, and my first handwritten cookbook.
Ingredients:
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup rolled oats (not instant)
1/2 cup powdered icing sugar
1/3 cup room temperature salted butter
1/3 cup room temperature salted butter
3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1 teaspoon cinnamon
3/4 cup finely chopped nuts
Directions:
1. Base:.
2. Blend all ingredients until mealy, and press into a lightly greased 9 inch square pan. Bake 10 minutes at 350 degrees, remove, and allow to cool.
3. Reduce oven temperature to 325 while cooking the topping.
4. Topping:.
5. In a saucepan over medium heat melt the butter, stir in the sugar and cinnamon, combine well. Heating until the mixture comes to a boil. Remove from heat. Stir in the chopped nuts and spread over the base.
6. Bake 325 degrees for 25 minutes or until topping bubbles.
7. Don't overcook as it will become dry.
8. Cool before cutting into squares.
