Venetian Calamari with Spicy Sauce
Ingredients:
1 lb calamari, cut into rings
2 tbsp olive oil
4 cloves garlic, chopped
1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
1/2 cup dry white wine
14 oz crushed tomatoes, canned
1 tsp curry powder
1 pinch cinnamon
1/4 cup parsley, chopped
3/4 lb egg fettuccine, cooked al dente
10 fresh basil leaves
Directions:
1. Pat the calamari dry.
2. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add oil and calamari. Cook for 3 minutes, turning frequently. Add garlic and red pepper and cook 3 minutes longer. Add the wine and cook off, 30 seconds. Add tomatoes, curry, cinnamon, parsley and salt and pepper to taste.
3. Toss pasta with the calamari and sauce and turn onto a large serving plate. Cover with basil to serve.
