This is as close as I could get to old fashioned rice crispy treats, They are really tasty and my non veg friends even find them yummy!!
Ingredients:
1 c. brown rice syrup
3/4 cup raw sugar
1 t. soy margarine
1 t. pure vanilla extract
7 cups puffed rice cereal
Directions:
1. Heat syrup oiver medium heat, add sugar. Stir continuously. It may styart to bubble, when it becomes frothy turn down the heat . When it boils add margarine, stir until mixed then add vanilla, stir until mixed. Turn down to low and continue to stir.
2. In a very large bowl measure out rice cereal.
3. Pour the heated mixture over cereal. stir until coated.
4. When completely coated, pour the cereal into pan lined with parchment paper (or wax). Push down with spatula so it is about an inch thick.
5. Allow treats to cool for about an hour.
