Rich, flavorful, creamy vanilla ice cream! If you like vanilla ice cream this is the one for you!
Ingredients:
4 egg yolks
1/2 pint milk
1/2 pint heavy cream
4 ounces sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla
Directions:
1. Beat together egg yolks and sugar until thick.
2. Pour milk into a small saucepan and heat over low heat until it scalds.
3. Slowly, while continuously beating yolks and sugar, pour hot milk into yolk mixture.
4. Pour mixture back into saucepan and heat on low heat, stirring constantly until custard thickens. (When you see a film on the back of the spoon it is time to remove from the heat.).
5. Let cool completely in refrigerator.
6. When custard base is cold, stir in cream and vanilla.
7. Place ice cream base into ice cream maker and freeze according to manufacturers instructions.
