Vanilla Cream Icing

This is a great icing as a base for frosting cakes or cupcakes. It can also be used for decorating - the consistency is great for flowers, etc.
Ingredients:
1/3 cup crisco shortening
4 cups powdered sugar
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 cup water
Directions:
1. Combine all ingredients in large mixing bowl.
2. Mix on medium speed with an electric mixer for 5 minutes.
3. If you want to tint it, the icing gel colors work best. Just add it gradually until you get the desired shade.
4. Icing can be stored in airtight containers at room temperature for an indefinite amount of time since there's nothing in it to go bad.
