I have been on a big health kick lately. I can't drink sodas and I hate drinking plain water. After a friend told me that the sweeteners in my favorite diet water drink was bad for me; I was stumped. I started playing around with fresh fruit in my water. Read more . This is the end result. You can replace blue berries with strawberries when they come into season. Just make sure to cut the leaf off. Any greenery in the drink will mold. You will have to stir the bottom before serving each time. I will drink a few glasses and then replace the water. When I do, I add more sugar and cinnamon to keep the flavor right. The clear pitcher is important because you will need to watch for the fresh fruit turning. Once it does, throw all of it away and start over. If you want to make this an adult drink, add a fruit flavored vodka to it. Hope you like it as much as I do :)
Ingredients:
1 - orange ( you can use cuties or regular oranges)
1 - lemon
2 handfuls of blueberries
2 dashes of raw sugar
2 dashes of cinnamon
water
1/2 gallon or 1 gallon clear pitcher
Directions:
1. - Quarter lemons and oranges. Make sure that at least one side of the pieces has skin on it. The skin is important to have in the water.
2. - Squeeze juice of pieces into pitcher then place in bottom of pitcher
3. - Squeeze blue berry juice into pitcher then place fruit in bottom of pitcher
4. - Sprinkle Cinnamon and sugar over fruit and let it sit for 10 mins.
5. - Fill pitcher to the top
6. I let my drink seep overnight so the flavors can mesh well.
7. You can do this recipe with grapes, raspberries, blackberries, or strawberries. I haven't tried kiwi, mango or pineapple yet. If you do, make sure to take the skin OFF if you do.
8. You can add or take away any of the items. I will be adding more oranges in my next batch. Enjoy!
