Ingredients:
8 oz. can fruit cocktail ( drained )
1/4 cup fruit cocktail syrup
1/2 cup sifted all purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 egg
1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup chopped nuts
Directions:
1. Grease & flour bottom of 8 inch square pan.
2. Drain fruit cocktail; reserve 1/4 cup syrup
3. Sift flour with sugar, soda and salt
4. Beat egg in mixing bowl until thick and lemon colored
5. Add thoroughly drained fruit and syrup, stir in dry ingredients, mix until well combined.
6. Spoon batter into pan.
7. Combine brown sugar and pecans; sprinkle over batter
8. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 - 30 minutes
9. Serve warm or cold with cream or ice cream
