Turkey Devonshire a La Quick & Easy

This is a good dish for bought lowcarbers and their families. It's basically individual casseroles of open-faced turkey sandwich with a white sauce. Source: Post-Gazette
Ingredients:
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
1 tablespoon flour
3/4 cup milk or 3/4 cup carb countdown low-carb milk
1 cup shredded new york cheddar cheese
4 slices hearty type bread (optional)
4 slices cooked turkey breast, thick slices (see note)
8 slices cooked bacon
fresh ground pepper
Directions:
1. NOTE:.
2. Enough turkey to cover the bread (we used deli turkey, sliced 1/4-inch thick)
3. Toast bread.
4. Heat turkey and bacon in the microwave.
5. White Sauce:.
6. In a small, stainless steel sauce pan, melt butter or margarine over low heat.
7. Whisk in flour.
8. Add milk all at once.
9. Increase heat to medium and continue whisking.
10. Heat until mixture is bubbling.
11. Cook one minute longer, whisking continuously.
12. Whisk in cheese. Stir until melted.
13. Add pepper to taste.
14. Preparing the sauce ahead of time is not recommended.
15. Plating:.
16. Prepare four serving dishes by placing a potato and a serving of broccoli, or your choice of sides, on each.
17. Place one piece of toast on each plate.
18. Top with two slices bacon, then cover with turkey.
19. Pour equal portions of sauce over each. Serve any extra sauce on the side.
20. Variation:
21. Place in four small casserole dishes, prepare the Devonshire as above.
22. Place under the broiler for two minutes or until the sauce is browned on top.
23. Serve the sides on separate small plates.
24. Warn your guests these dishes are HOT!
25. Hints: Using precooked turkey and bacon saves time.
26. Shred cheese or buy shredded.
27. Turkey can be cooked in the microwave, leftover, or bought in the deli.
28. If you choose deli turkey, be sure to get it cut about 1/4-inch thick.
29. If pre-packaged, use at least three slices per serving.
30. Bacon can be microwaved or fried.
