This is from an old Betty Crocker holiday cookbook that I have, dated 1996. It's delicious and a nice change of pace as far as sandwiches go. I was unable to find cranberry-orange sauce so I used whole berry cranberry sauce instead. I also just use turkey lunch meat.
Ingredients:
4 slices colby or 4 slices monterey jack cheese or 4 slices cheddar cheese
1/2 cup cranberry-orange sauce or 1/2 cup relish
12 ounces thinly sliced cooked turkey
8 slices firm-textured wheat or 8 slices rye bread
2 tablespoons margarine or 2 tablespoons butter
Directions:
1. Layer cheese, sauce and turkey on 4 slices of bread. Top with remaining bread. Spread top slices of bread with half of the butter.
2. Place sandwiches, butter sides down, in 10-inch skillet. Spread top slices of bread with remaining butter. Cook uncovered over medium heat about 5 minutes or until golden brown. Turn and cook other sides about 2 minutes or until golden brown and cheese is melted.
