Greetings! I'm a brand new member to Zaar. Without a doubt, this is the best recipe site on the net. I am in awe at the amount of wonderful things to cook and bake. I thought I would start out with one of my simple recipes. Here is an easy skillet meal to help use up all that leftover holiday turkey we all have. Of course, you can substitute chicken or pork also.
Ingredients:
1 cup coarsely chopped onion
1 tablespoon vegetable oil or 1 tablespoon peanut oil
1 cup diagonally sliced celery
1 -2 clove garlic, minced
2 cups diced cooked turkey
1 (14 ounce) can chinese vegetables, drained
1 cup chicken broth
1/2 cup frozen peas
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons cold water
1 -2 tablespoon oyster sauce
1 tablespoon soy sauce
Directions:
1. In a large skillet, cook onion in oil over medium heat about 5 minutes.
2. Add celery and garlic and cook 5 minutes more.
3. Add turkey, mixed vegetables, broth and peas; cover and cook 5 minutes.
4. Mix remaining ingredients together and add to skillet.
5. Turn heat up to medium high.
6. Cook, stirring constantly 2 to 3 minutes until sauce is boiling and thickened.
7. Serve over chow mein noodles with rice and additional soy sauce if desired.
