Spinach stars in this healthy and surprisingly delicious smoothie, great for breakfast or a snack. This is a variation of Groovy Green Smoothie that conveniently incorporates two of those items that jumped in my cart at Trader Joe's that never really caught on at home. Read more ....until now...Apple Carrot Fruit Sauce Crushers and Almond Butter. You can also sub 1/3 cup of a combination of cooked carrot and applesauce/cut up apple if you don't want to buy the Crushers. Almond butter is optional, but adds protein and nice flavor.
Ingredients:
1 banana, frozen and cut in chunks
1/2 cup orange juice
1/2 cup nonfat greek yogurt
2 cups fresh spinach leaves
1 3.17 oz. apple carrot fruit sauce (trader joe's)
fresh parsley or mint - about 2 tbsp (optional)
1 tbsp. almond butter (optional)
*use about 1/3-1/2 cup combination of applesauce and cooked carrots if desired
Directions:
1. Blend everything in a blender until smooth. Serve immediately.
