I duplicated this recipe from one my family loves at T-Bones Steakhouse in Charleston, SC. I have no idea why they are called Tommy Fries. They are served at the steakhouse as an appetizer.
Ingredients:
1 bottle ranch dressing
1 lb bacon
1 lb grated cheddar cheese
10 medium potatoes
salt and pepper
Directions:
1. Boil potatoes until soft.
2. Slip peels off and cube potatoes.
3. Salt and pepper potatoes to taste.
4. Fry bacon until crisp, saving bacon grease.
5. Crumble bacon and set aside.
6. Brown cubed potatoes in bacon grease and set aside.
7. Pour bottle of Ranch Dressing onto an oven safe platter.
8. Pile potatoes on top of dressing.
9. Crumble bacon over potatoes and spread cheddar over potatoes.
10. Broil in oven until cheese melts.
11. Serve as a side or an appetizer.
