The Ultimate Onion With Creamy Chili Sauce

This requires a little effort and takes a little time, but the end result is an awesome fried onion with an elegant chili sauce. I often serve this when I do a fish fry for my bunko group. They love it, I love it and never have any left overs. Read more . Enjoy.
Ingredients:
3 cups cornstarch
1-1/2 cups flour
2 teaspoons garlic salt
2 teaspoons paprika
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
24 ounces beer
6 colossal onions
seasoned flour as needed
1 quart creamy chili sauce (below)
creamy chili sauce
1 pint mayonnaise
1 pint dairy sour cream
1/2 cup chili sauce
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Directions:
1. Mix cornstarch, flour and seasoning until well blended then add beer and mix well.
2. Cut 3/4 off onion then peel onion and cut into 16 vertical wedges but do not cut through bottom.
3. Remove 1” of petals from center of onion.
4. Dip cut onion in seasoned flour and remove excess by shaking then dip in batter.
5. Shake to remove excess batter from onions.
6. Separate petals to coat thoroughly with batter.
7. Mix batter after standing to blend ingredients.
8. Gently place onions in fryer basket and deep fry at 400 degrees for 1-1/2 minutes.
9. Turn over and fry 1-1/2 minutes longer.
10. Drain on paper towels.
11. Place onion upright in shallow bowl and remove center core with circular cutter or apple corer. Serve hot with sauce.
12. To make sauce combine all ingredients and mix well.
