An amazingly chewy, fudgy brownie! Not for folks who like their brownies more cake-like. I found this recipe on while searching for a recipe that used baking squares instead of cocoa powder. The result? A brownie that is super easy to make and comes out perfectly every time! I like to add a pinch each of baking powder and baking soda but it's not necessary especially if you can beat the egg/sugar mix for 10 minutes...
Ingredients:
8 ounces unsweetened chocolate squares
1 cup butter
5 eggs
3 cups sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
2 1/2 cups chopped pecans (optional) or 2 1/2 cups walnuts, toasted (optional)
Directions:
1. Preheat your oven to 365 degrees F and grease a 9x13 pan.
2. Melt the chocolate and butter in pan over low heat and set aside. Just make sure it doesn't burn!
3. In a large bowl, beat the eggs, sugar, and vanilla at high speed. Doing this for 10 minutes would be ideal but your brownies won't be ruined if you don't.
4. Mix in the chocolate/butter mix, flour, and salt until just combined. Fold in the nuts.
5. Pour into the prepared pan and bake for 32-37 minutes.
