A local restaurant on Watts Bar Lake, The Landing, serves this version of cuban sandwiches. I use the foreman grill to prepare ours...and even though cubans don't have mayo or banana peppers, I always add some Kraft mayo and bp's to mine! Read more !
Ingredients:
2 sub rolls, or 4 slices cuban, italian, or french bread
2 t brown mustard
4 oz smoked ham, thinly sliced
4 oz roast pork, thinly sliced
2 oz swiss cheese, sliced
6 lengthwise slices dill pickles
1 t softened butter
*** i add: kraft real mayo, 6 thin slices of tomato, and mild banana pepper rings
Directions:
1. Lay pickles, banana peppers, and tomatoes on paper towels to drain, and help keep sandwiches from being 'wet'
2. Spread the OUTSIDE of the sub rolls with mustard (and mayo)
3. Assemble all sandwich ingredients between the outsides of the rolls - turned to the insideof the sandwich
4. Spread softened butter on the 'insides' of the rolls, which are the 'outsides' of the sandwhich
5. Place in foreman grill and close lid
6. Cook until cheese is melted
7. *** The Landing places the sandwiches under foil, and places a brick on them while grilling
