The Dawn's Hash Brown Casserole

This dish from my friend Dawn is great at breakfast, brunch, or dinner. Pairs excellent with ham, eggs benedict, or pretty much any standard breakfast food. I usually add more onion as a personal preference.
Ingredients:
1 lb ore ida frozen hash browns
1 (10 ounce) can cream of chicken soup
1 pint sour cream
1 1/2 cups mild shredded cheddar cheese
1/3 cup diced onion
1/2 cup butter
salt and pepper
Directions:
1. In a large sauce pan melt butter and add all ingredients except potatoes
2. When onions are translucent add potatoes and heat through.
3. Place into a greased 3 quart glass baking dish.
4. Cover and chill overnight.
5. Bake uncovered at 350 for one hour or until bubbly.
