I come from a long line of people who are dreadful at making these but then i came across this recipe and it really cannot go wrong! I use a cup measure for the ingredients but you can use anything as long as you use the same thing for all the ingredients. This recipe can easily be doubled up to make more but usually makes about nine puds. ( If you have any mixture left over...dont waste it....put it in to the fridge and the next morning add about a cup of milk and use the batter mix for pancakes!) Ingredients:
1 cup plain flour |
1 cup milk, and water mixed |
1 cup egg |
1 pinch salt |
1 tablespoon malt vinegar |
2 tablespoons vegetable oil, for greasing baking tin |
Directions:
1. Pour oil into tin so that the bottom is just covered. 2. Pre-heat oven to about 220 and place tin in for about 15 minutes. Meanwhile, Beat eggs in a mixing bowl, add flour, salt and half the milk/water and beat well. 3. Add remaining milk/water and vinegar and beat again. Your mixture should be a little bubbly - this is good. 4. Pour mixture into tin till about half way up the side and place back in oven for 25 mins or until golden on top. |
