Tex-Mex Burgers

Ingredients:
1 medium chopped onion
1/3 cup chopped green bell pepper
2 tablespoons lard
1/2 lb ground chuck
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
1/2 cup water
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
2 teaspoons chili powder
1 (15 ounce) can pork and beans
6 toasted hamburger buns
Directions:
1. Saute onion and bell pepper in lard about 5 minutes or until tender.
2. Add beef and cook until browned, about 5 minutes.
3. Add tomato paste, water, salt and pepper, chili powder and can of pork and beans.
4. Simmer for 5 minutes.
5. Serve on toasted buns.
