This batter can be used with shrimp, chicken and a list of vegetables that is soooooooooooo long it boggles the imagination. This is a very bland batter, but your flavor comes from the many dipping sauces that are available, you can find lots of great ones here on Zaar. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 egg
1 cup club soda, very cold
bamboo skewer (optional)
Directions:
1. Combine all ingredients and whisk until smooth.
2. Dip seafood, beef or chicken cut in 1/4 inch x 4 inch strips into the batter and carefully place in hot oil, deep fry until lightly golden. Watch closely so as not to overcook. (If using vegetables, remove stems from mushrooms and cut larger vegetables into 1/4 to 1/2 inch slices).
3. Remove from oil and place on a wire rack or paper towels to drain.
4. Serve with your choice of dipping sauce.
