Swiss Chocolate Squares & Icing

Here is a recipe from my grandmothers cookbook (1930's).
Ingredients:
1 cup water
1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine
1 1/2 ounces unsweetened chocolate
2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine
6 tablespoons milk
1 1/2 ounces unsweetened chocolate
4 1/2 cups powdered sugar, sifted
1 teaspoon vanilla
to taste pecan halves (optional)
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
2. Combine water, butter and chocolate in saucepan; bring to a boil.
3. Remove from heat. Mix together flour and sugar.
4. Stir in flour and sugar.
5. Add eggs, sour cream, baking soda and salt. Mix well.
6. Pour into greased 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 jelly roll pan.
7. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes.
8. Frost while warm with milk chocolate frosting.
9. Cool.
10. Cut into squares.
11. For the Frosting: Combine butter, chocolate and milk in saucepan.
12. Boil 1 minute. Remove from heat. Add sugar.
13. Beat until smooth.
14. Stir in vanilla.
15. Spread on squares.
16. Garnish with pecan halves if desired.
