I received this recipe from a woman who is like a grandmother to me. This is a great recipe for simple sugar cookies. However, this recipe is not meant for Christmas cut out cookies, the dough is not thick enough. It is important how you grease the cookie sheets. Too little, and they won't spread. Too much, and they will spread all over the place. I usually use about a tablespoon or so of Crisco to grease them. I love these cookies because they taste like they came from a bakery!
Ingredients:
1/4 cup butter
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
1/2 cup sour cream
2 1/2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375.
2. Cream together butter and sugar.
3. Beat in eggs and vanilla.
4. Beat in sour cream.
5. Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. You do not have to sift the ingredients, but it will give the cookies a finer texture.
6. Bake on lightly greased cookie sheets for about 12 minutes.
