Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Cream butter, sugar and vanilla in a bowl with a whisk. Add eggs and whisk together. In a separate bowl, sift together flour, salt and baking powder. Add baking soda and buttermilk and wait for it to foam.
  3. Add flour mixture and buttermilk mixture alternately to egg mixture until combined in a batter form.
  4. Drop ping pong sized dollops of dough onto cookie sheets. Sprinkle with coarse sugar.
  5. Bake about 10 minutes or until edges are golden. Cool and serve.
