Stuffed Green Peppers

Another one of Mom's dinners that I loved but was not made very often.
Ingredients:
8 large green peppers
1 lb. ground beef
1 lb. ground pork
2 eggs
1 cup of cooked rice
2 cloves fresh garlic, mashed
1 large onion, chopped
salt
pepper
italian seasoning
2 lg cans tomato sauce -or- spaghetti sauce
Directions:
1. Grease bottom of a deep pan or cake pan with oil.
2. Cut tops off of green peppers and clean out the seeds so that you have 8 hollows.
3. Set aside in the pan, bottom down.
4. Mix meat, eggs, garlic, onion, and all seasonings in large bowl.
5. Add rice and mix together.
6. Stuff peppers with meat mixture, placing them back into pan bottom down when full.
7. Place in pan and pour both cans of tomato sauce, or spaghetti sauce, over top of the meat and peppers.
8. Cook at 350 F for an hour.
9. Serve with beef rice, mashed potatoes, or beefy noodles.
10. **TUILELAITH'S NOTE: About 10 minutes before I am ready to take these out of the oven I sprinkle with shredded cheese. My Mom did not do this but we like it that way.
