Ingredients:

  • 1 batch puff pastry (#451679 or store bought-use 2 sheets)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (white could be used if better with that fruit)
  • 1 tsp orange zest ( lemon or lime good)
  • 1/4 cup nuts (wal , pecans , almonds , pistachio , etc)
  • 3/4 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 1 tbsp milk

Directions:

  1. Melt butter over medium heat. Add fruit and cook until tender. When almost done, add sugar, zest and nuts. Stir until sugar has melted, glazing the fruit.
  2. Use your imagination to further spice it.
  3. Assembly:.
  4. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  5. On floured surface roll 1/2 the puff pastry (or get it, thawed, out of the package) and place a sheet of puff pastry on a silpat lined sheet (no silpat -grease it).
  6. Along each side of the pastry, make angled slits 1 inch apart from the edge to 1/2 inch less than 1/3 the way across.
  7. Spread half the fruit mixture down the center. Fold the cut sides over the top in a criss cross pattern. Pinch the end closed with a fork.
  8. Repeat to make a 2nd strudel.
  9. Bake 20-30 minutes, or until golden.
  10. Glaze:.
  11. Combine glaze ingredients and whisk to blend. If you want it thinner, add milk by .5 tsp fulls.
  12. Drizzle over the warm strudel.
