Does a Strawberry Sundae sound good? If so, this is a great recipe for the strawberry sauce that tops those lovely scoops of ice cream. This sauce is very simple to make and quick, too. Its also good on top of plain yogurt, cottage cheese, cheesecake, and on plain vanilla cakes and pound cakes.
Ingredients:
3 cups of fresh strawberries
1/2 cup sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. lemon juice
Directions:
1. Combine all the ingredients in a medium saucepan.
2. Bring to a boil over high heat stirring occasionally.
3. Reduce the heat and let the sauce simmer for 5 minutes.
4. Transfer the mixture to the food processor and purée.
5. Strain the sauce before transferring to a jar.
6. I hate to clean food processors so you can simply mash the berries in a colander or leave them whole. Or just mash half of the berries. You can also slice them before you cook them and not mash or strain them at all. Its all up to you!
7. *Try adding tablespoon of this to some tea, Seven-Up, or lemonade! (Add this to a marguerita recipe! )
