Strawberry Marzipan Bars

Any fruit preserves may be substituted for the strawberry.
Ingredients:
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup strawberry preserves
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 cup butter, softened
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1 -2 teaspoon milk
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 350°F.
2. Combine all crust ingredients in small mixer bowl.
3. Beat at low speed, scraping bowl often, until mixture resembles coarse crumbs (1 to 2 minutes).
4. Press onto bottom of greased and floured 8-inch square baking pan.
5. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until edges are lightly browned.
6. Spread preserves to within 1/4 inch of edge.
7. Combine all remaining filling ingredients in same mixer bowl.
8. Beat at low speed, scraping bowl often, until well mixed (1 to 2 minutes).
9. Sprinkle filling mixture over preserves. Continue baking for 20 to 25 minutes or until edges are lightly browned.
10. Cool completely.
11. Stir together powdered sugar and 1/2 teaspoon almond extract in small bowl.
12. Gradually stir in enough milk for desired drizzling consistency.
13. Drizzle over cooled bars; cut into bars.
