Steamed Ginger Nut Pudding

Rich, buttery, gingery old-fashioned Christmas goodness! Drizzle my mother's lemon sauce over top and I am in heaven!
Ingredients:
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 pound unsalted butter
1/4 cup molasses
1 tablespoon brandy
5 eggs, beaten
2 1/2 cups flour
2 tablespoons ground ginger
1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
1 cup crystallized ginger, chopped fine
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
Directions:
1. Cream butter and sugar, add molasses and brandy. Add eggs and beat well. Sift dry ingredients together and add crystallized ginger and nuts. Combine with egg mixture and beat well. Spoon into buttered pudding mold, cover and put into large pot. Then fill large pot 2/3's full with boiling water. Cover and simmer for 1 1/2 hours.
2. Can be served immediately with lemon sauce or refrigerate until serving day and reheat in simmering pot of water.
