St Patrickss Day Irish Soda Bread

This is one of two irish Soda breads I want to post. but this is another variety. This is so good toasted with honey poured over it. can also make french toast out of it. Read more .
Ingredients:
2 cups all purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon sugar
6 tablespoons chilled solid vegetable shortening
1 cup seedless dark raisins
1 tablespoon caraway seeds
3/4 cup buttermilk
Directions:
1. In a large bowl, mix together flour, soda, salt and sugar.
2. Cut shortening into flour mixture with pastry blender until coarse crumbs form.
3. Lightly stir in raisins and caraway seeds.
4. Add buttermilk; toss with fork until dry ingredients are just evenly moistened.
5. Knead dough 3 or 4 times; shape into round loaf.
6. Place on lightly greased baking sheet.
7. Brush top with additional milk.
8. Cut *x* in top with sharp knife.
9. Bake in preheated 375 degree oven 45 to 50 minutes or until golden brown and crusty.
10. Cool bread on wire rack.
11. Store, tightly wrapped at room temperature.
12. Yield: 1 loaf.
