SQUASH AND APPLE BAKE DATED 1970 This is a recipe I obtained from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Jennet Estate in Allen, Texas in 1983.
Ingredients:
2 pounds butternut squash
1/2 cup brown sugar packed
1/4 cup butter melted
1 tablespoon flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon mace
2 baking apples cored and cut into 1/2” slices
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 350.
2. Cut each squash in half then remove seeds and fibers and pare squash.
3. Cut into 1/2” slices.
4. Stir together remaining ingredients except apple slices then arrange in ungreased baking dish.
5. Top with apple slices then sprinkle sugar mixture on top and cover with foil.
6. Bake 50 minutes.
