OK, this recipe may not give you a swimsuit body but it definitely makes a widely disliked veggie taste great! Based on a recipe by former SI model Melissa Keller that she shared on Paula Deen's show.
Ingredients:
3 garlic cloves, minced
2 slices bacon (i used apple wood smoked, thick cut)
1/2 pound brussels sprouts, trimmed, tough leaves removed, halved
1/2 tsp sugar
1/4 cup chicken broth
sea salt & black pepper, freshly ground - to taste
Directions:
1. Heat medium skillet over medium heat. Add bacon and cook until crisp. Transfer to paper towel lined plate to cool. Put sprouts into skillet, cut side down. Cook until they begin to brown, about 3 minutes. Add garlic, season with s&p and saute for another 1-2 minutes. Increase heat to medium-high, then add sugar and broth, scraping browned bits from bottom of pan and mix well. Cover and cook for another 2 minutes. Meanwhile, cut bacon into small pieces. Toss bacon with sprouts before serving.
