My favorite growing up!!
Ingredients:
1/2 lb split peas (lentils are good also)
1 ham hock
1 minced carrot
1 minced celery
1 minced onion
Directions:
1. Place all ingredients in a pot and fill with lots of water. Boil, boil, boil.
2. Watch carefully and stir.
3. As the peas start to thicken, add a little water. It helps to cook - but not too much water or it will be too thin.
