Spicy Wine Roast for Slow Cookers

This recipe came from my boss who brought it to a potluck. We have used this recipe for years and love it. This is a good way to use tougher cuts of beef. Just a note though, shredding the beef instead of cutting makes a better sandwich.
Ingredients:
3 -4 lbs beef roast
salt and pepper
1 medium onion
2 (24 g) packages beef gravy
2 cups water
1/2 cup ketchup
3/4-1 cup dry red wine
3 teaspoons dijon mustard
1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon garlic powder
Directions:
1. Sprinkle meat with salt and pepper.
2. Place in slow-cooker.
3. Combine remaining ingredients and pour over meat.
4. Cover and cook 8-10 hours on low.
5. Remove meat, shred or slice and return to gravy.
6. Serve with dinner buns.
