Spicy Garbanzo Soup (American Heart Association)

From the American Heart Association Cookbook. It suggests serving the soup with salad, fresh fruit, and pita chips. The suggested serving is 3/4 cups a person.
Ingredients:
3 (6 ounce) cans no-salt-added tomato juice
3 tablespoons no-salt-added tomato paste
1/4-1/2 teaspoon hot pepper sauce (to taste)
1 (15 ounce) can no-salt-added garbanzo beans, drained
3/4 cup cooked chicken or 3/4 cup turkey, cubed
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1 avocado, peeled and diced
2 tablespoons fresh parsley, minced
Directions:
1. In a saucepan over medium-high heat, heat tomato juice, and tomato paste, mixing well.
2. Add garbanzos and chicken or turkey and bring to a low boil.
3. Reduce heat and add oregano. Simmer for 5 minutes.
4. Stir in diced avocado and heat for 2-3 minutes.
5. Serve hot and garnish with the parsley.
