Spiced 2-grain Pancakes

Pancakes that taste like gingerbread.......a sweet way to start your day!
Ingredients:
1 cup milk
1 large egg
1/2 stick butter, melted and cooled
1 cup old-fashioned oats
1/4 cup plus 1 tbsp packed brown sugar
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup toasted wheat germ
1 tsp baking soda
1 1/4 tsps ground ginger
1 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
a scant 1/2 tsp ground cloves
1 tsp salt
vegetable oil for griddle
maple syrup, heated (butter pecan syrup is delicious, too!)
Directions:
1. In a blender, blend all ingredients except oil until just combined.
2. Heat a griddle over moderate heat until hot enough to make a drop of water scatter over surface. Brush griddle with oil.
3. Working in batches, drop scant 1/4 cup measures of batter onto griddle to form pancakes (4-inch) and cook until bubbles appear on surface and undersides are brown, about 2 minutes.
4. Flip pancakes with a metal spatula and cook until undersides are golden brown and pancakes are cooked through, about 2 minutes.
