Sparkling Cider Floats

Similar to a friend's recipe from here, but this is our version we've been making forever. Great end to an autumn meal.
Ingredients:
1 gallon quality apple cider
2 liter ginger ale(or a crisp sparkling wine or champagne can be subbed)
1/2 gallon quality ice cream(we use butter pecan or a toffee pieces flavor, most often)
Directions:
1. Place about 2 scoops ice cream in each serving glass
2. Top with 1 cup cider
3. Add 1/2 cup Ginger Ale, slowly, to create float
