This came from a Betty Crocker cookbook. It's simple and really great.
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 cup uncooked long grain rice
1 medium onion, chopped
2 1/2 cups water
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
3/4 teaspoon chili powder
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
Directions:
1. Heat oil in 10 skillet over medium heat.
2. Cook rice and onion in oil about 5 min.
3. Stir frequently, until rice is golden brown and onion is tender.
4. Stir in remaining ingredients.
5. Heat to boiling, reduce heat to low.
6. Cover and simmer about 30 min.
7. Stir occasionally, until rice is tender.
